Remembering South Carolina's Greatest Snowstorm

The South Carolina Snowfall record for a single storm is not in the Mountains, like many may expect. In fact, it is far from the mountains, on the edge of the Piedmont and Coastal Plain. Rimini, SC received 24" of snow in 24 hours from this storm, which effected a large portion of central Georgia and the Carolinas.

Lake Effect Snow in South-Central SC?

Here is something interesting. I guess I did not realize that such a small body of water, relatively speaking, could produce lake effect snow. It has happened twice this season near Charleston off of Lake Moultrie:
